DESCRIPTION:

Four and a half carats of diamond on a 5.3 gram mounting is the balance this ring strikes. The centre is a 3.02 carat round brilliant, EGL certified at J colour and VS1 clarity, prong set in 18K gold.

Total diamond weight is 4.53 carats, with 1.51 carats of that in small round cut side diamonds. At 3/8 of an inch, 10 mm, the band is narrow for a centre stone this size. That is a deliberate proportion: less metal in the sightline leaves the three carat round reading at full size rather than being shortened by a heavy shank.

J is the final grade of the near colourless range, the point where a faint warmth becomes detectable face up in some lighting. Colour moves price steeply at three carats, so a J centre buys considerably more size than a G would for the same spend, and that is the honest reason this ring is priced where it is. VS1 means the stone is clean to the naked eye. Made at Avianne and Co in New York City's Diamond District.
