DESCRIPTION:

This ring weighs 20.7 grams in platinum, roughly double the mounting weight of most engagement rings this size. You notice it the moment you pick it up, and you keep noticing it on the hand: a ring built with this much metal sits firmly and does not rotate on the finger the way a light shank does.

The center stone weighs 3.00 carats and is graded H to I in color and SI1 in clarity. The side stones add 2.00 carats, so total diamond weight is 5.00 carats, split roughly 60/40 between the center and the surrounding work. The frame measures 10 mm, or 3/8 of an inch, in width.

SI1 means inclusions are not visible to the naked eye, and H to I is the near colorless range. Platinum needs no rhodium plating to stay white, where white gold has to be replated every few years to hold the same color, so a ring made this heavily in platinum will look the way it does now in twenty years' time.
