DESCRIPTION:

Platinum, and on a ring this size that is the specification worth paying for. The mounting weighs 9.7 grams at only 6.9 mm wide, because platinum is denser than gold, and that same density is why platinum prongs hold their grip longer under daily wear.

The center diamond is a round brilliant of 1.19 carats, EGL certified at H color and SI1 clarity. Princess cut side diamonds add 0.75 carats for a total diamond weight of 1.94 carats. The sides run as a squared line of stones along the shoulders, which sets a deliberate contrast against the round outline of the center.

H is near colorless and shows no warmth against white metal, and SI1 means no inclusions are visible to the naked eye. Platinum stays white permanently. White gold is a yellow alloy finished with rhodium plating that has to be redone every few years to keep the same color, so over a ring worn for decades the platinum is maintenance its owner never has to think about.
