DESCRIPTION:

Warm stones in a warm metal, and the pairing is intentional. The center is a large princess cut diamond weighing 3.25 carats, prong set, graded K in color and SI2 in clarity. The side stones weigh 2 carats in total and are also K in color and SI2 in clarity, which keeps the whole ring consistent rather than setting a tinted center against brighter accents that would expose it. Total diamond weight is 5.25 carats in 14K yellow gold.

K is a faint color grade, below the near colorless range, and in a stone this size it reads as a warm tint rather than as white. Set in yellow gold that warmth has nowhere to clash: the metal surrounding the stone is already warm, so the eye reads the ring as one tone instead of registering the center as off color. The same stone in platinum would look noticeably yellower than its setting.

The value argument is straightforward. Color grade drives price hard above three carats, so a K center buys dramatically more carat weight than a G or an H for the same money, and this ring puts that saving into a 3.25 carat princess rather than a smaller colorless one. SI2 means the inclusions are not visible to the naked eye. The band measures 3/8 of an inch, or 9 mm, across the center and weighs approximately 10.7 grams.
